📍 Cabrerets · Lot (46) · Occitanie, France
A remarkable karst system with five documented sumps and extensive dry passages.
The Émergence de la Dragonnière is near Cabrerets in the Lot department. The cave system combines active, water-filled passages with extensive dry and fossil galleries. The 2003 survey records approximately 3,000 metres of mapped passages, including around 670 metres underwater.
The five sumps shown on the survey are S1 (133 m, −12 m), S2 (53 m, −6 m), S3 (136 m, −16 m), S4 (282 m, −24 m) and S5 (55 m, −2.6 m). S4 is both the longest and deepest. Beyond the sumps are several dry sections, including areas near Salle Lucile and Le jardin d’Éden.
The system was extensively explored and surveyed between 1995 and 2003. The maps credit F. Auber and N. Lasson, among others. The extremely tight entrance calls for a sidemount configuration; a DPV (underwater scooter) is unsuitable. The combination of sumps, restrictions, sediment and dry sections makes this primarily an exploration cave. Historical information should not be treated as current diving or access guidance.
The historical surveys show the five sumps, the underwater passages and the dry side branches. Click either map to enlarge it.
