Villars-sous-Écot, Doubs, France
📍 Open in Google Maps →A relatively tight underwater cave in the Doubs, located on private property and historically explored to at least 230 metres of penetration.
Puits de Fondereau, also known as Creux d'Empoue, is a temporary resurgence near Villars-sous-Écot in the Doubs department. The historical topography shows a largely horizontal underwater passage that remains relatively shallow in its first section.
Farther into the cave, the profile descends clearly towards approximately -25 to -30 metres. The cave is quite tight in several places, making a compact configuration practical.
Historical exploration: the available topo shows at least 230 m of penetration and approximately -30 m. A continuation is indicated at the end; 230 m is therefore not stated as the definitive total cave length.
